SIX WEEKS to go!Today, dear reader, leaves only six weeks until my twenty-first birthday. And that can only mean one thing- that there are only six weeks and two days until this mammoth of a bike ride begins! Luckily, our committee and support team are still busy working at getting things organised, and all of our brave riders are beginning to get themselves prepared for the task ahead. Our Just Giving page is, at the time of writing, on a total of £1160.07. I don't know who donated the 7p but by all accounts this is bloody fantastic going. However, we still have a long way to go before we get close to our target of £10,000, so please keep donating- the link is just above this text- look- there it is. We also have wristbands and mugs for sale in the SU office if you'd rather have something other than the warm tingling feeling of giving to charity in exchange for your money, and there are cash boxes dotted around to drop off your change. I'm really trying not to quote Tesco, but you know, anything you can give will make a difference. So in conclusion, please donate by whichever means suits you best, and wish us luck with our training... I know I need it... LGBT Society fundraiserLast night we got together with LGBT society for a fundraising event which was full of colour and joy. Highlights included a cross-dressing catwalk, a game of Pin the Tail on the Rainbow-Vomiting Unicorn (I don't know either) and an array of colourful food and drinks. Meanwhile, the committee are busy making practical preparations for the ride, and working hard to spread the word. Don't forget you can donate in a matter of seconds by clicking on the link above to our Just Giving page! Bike Ride and Parlons Karauctionoke fundraiserLast night saw riders, support team and committee members as well as other ULIP students take to the stage in a 'Karauctionoke', singing the most embarrassing songs friends could think of for a fee! The final figure is not yet in but we do know that we raised over 140€, which will make a real difference for Parlons and the Bike Ride. Under the watchful eye of organiser, Mike Johnson, a selection of ulip students plan to make the audacious attempt to cycle from the Eiffel tower, to blackpool tower. The 600 mile journey will take place from the 4th June for 10 days in order to raise money for the uk based mental health charity, http://www.mind.org.uk/. You can donate to help us raise money towards the target of 10,000 pounds via the link on the homepage "ulip tower to tower bike ride."
