All eyes on ULIP today as Freshers and buddies descended upon its high-ceilinged halls. Some early drama with the Parlons team who through a heroic effort incurred by their own relative lack of organisation, managed to edit, compile and print most of the Fresher's Guide in 2 short hours. After a talk from the Dean (he did the bit where he talks in French then back in to English, which still manages to be funny), we were on our way, metroing off to all corners of Paris with groups visiting as far afield as la Mosquée, the Canal Saint-Martin and the Bois de Boulogne (pictures will follow later in the week!).
We then made our way over to 25 Est on the Place de Stalingrad, with its beautiful view over the beginnings of the Canal and a setting sun, it was sufficiently pretty to merit a wide range of clichés, which you're welcome to detail in the comments below. A delicious meal ensued, with pasta for the veggies and nice chunk of beef for the carnivores. A good time was had by all. Well, at least most, I didn't really carry out a survey. Next stop Room 106 tomorrow evening for the ULIP Pub Games Society to delight, inform and entertain us with its Pub Quiz. See you there, Calum P.s. If you'd like to buy tickets, I'll be around uni tomorrow and will be able to hook you up.

Hello all!
I think a quick update is well in order. Firstly, ULIP's own magazine, Parlons, are busy compiling a Fresher's guide (to be given out during Freshers week) and last year's editions are now available here, free for all and sundry to peruse at leisure. Plans for Freshers week are well underway, lead by the capable and reassuringly muscular Nick Kent, with some of the Exec team visiting venues for the Fresher's ball this week so you can officially get excited now. In more exciting news, the ULIP building is being renovated this summer, meaning that the student spaces will be all fancy when we come back. What used to be the canteen will now be a lecture hall/venue with some fancy bits in (a proper stage and sound-related stuff), with the canteen being moved downstairs. A couple of the rooms are going to be knocked together downstairs making a nice big student space with computers and other nice things. Good night and good luck, Calum |
