![]() Last night we gathered in the SU Common Room for our RAG Week event in aid of our chosen charity, the anti-domestic violence charity Refuge (http://refuge.org.uk/) jointly hosted by Gastronomy Society (headed by Josh Hannon), Wine Society (headed by Joe Thompson) and Music Society (headed by Campbell Findlay and Nicola Runkee). The cheese and meat were exemplar, with a lovely wide selection (pictured), which we had alongside a skinful of wine of every colour. The set-up was really nice too: the Open Mic was appreciated without being overly formal or dominating the space too much. I didn't get a chance to see all of the performances that I did see (Jamie on guitar, Nicola and Declan on piano, Cam and Campbell jamming, Hazel on the ukulele) were all really great. It was lovely to see so many people there too, the count I heard was over 50, which made for a great (if really hot) atmosphere. Good job everyone involved!

Apologies for the recent quiet on the blog front! Since last I wrote to you we've had a lot going on, with canteen events by the hatful- including the very well attended and very fun Take Me Out Event last Friday, a couple of Belushi's Event, a break and Refresher's all coming since last I sat down to record on this blog. Monica Marriot-Mills continues to document the SU's events on our snazzy camera (befriend Ulip Eye on Facebook to have a look). We've also got an event coming up this Thursday evening with is set to be a cracker, a return to the Old Belushi's, a favourite of many.
We've also had some other developments at ULIP: we now have a an arrangement with a counsellor to whom ULIP students in difficulty can be referred for sessions, which is something we consider to be massive: it's difficult adjusting to life away from home, never mind in a different country. Top work by Niamh Hickey, our Welfare Officer, and the ULIP Student Services for getting that sorted. The canteen has now opened downstairs, stocking M + S goodies. In a couple of weeks we're going to have a set menu introduced for ULIP students as well to get us fed and watered nice and cheap. That's all I have for now, See you soon! |
Welcome to ULIP's blog! Please feel free to share your thoughts (and feelings) in the comments sections below the articles. Spam will be deleted, ULIP Eye is watching you. Beware.
