In a staff-student committee meeting in 2003, it was decided that a Students' union should be founded at ULIP. In its first year, the democratic infrastructure of the SU was put into place to enable positions to be elected the following year. By 2005, the SU was fully functional with several active societies, university funding and affiliation to ULU. In 2007, the constitution was modified to keep up with the expansion in student numbers, and in 2008 the SU Website was created and subsequently renovated in 2012 and 2016.
The aims of the union shall be: to advance the education of its members, to represent the interests of its members, acting as a channel of communication with the Institute and other bodies; and to promote, encourage and co-ordinate student societies, and sports, social and cultural activities. We are here to enrich your unique university experience and to ensure that you, as a student at ULIP, are represented fairly within the union and the university.
